One of the most interesting things in the news this week, is the advancement for diagnosis of Cancer and Asthma. It's seen as such a big advancement, because it will reduce the time of diagnosis from 'weeks to minutes.' This is because, the traditional way is to take a sample of bacteria and see how it responds to antibiotics which can be a long process.
Using mice which have Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Staphylococcus aureu, infections like these release compounds which are exhaled. Scientists have discovered 'chemical fingerprints' given of by certain bacteria which could allow the advancement of diagnosis to a breath test.
